Roles & Responsibilities
For Representatives of the
Mercer County Regional Planning Commission
February 22, 1994
Representatives of the Mercer
County Regional Planning Commission have the following roles and
responsibilities:
• Make policy decisions and
give direction and input to the professional staff in order to best serve the
organization's mission as defined by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning
Code, the Commission's Articles of Agreement, and the Commission's Bylaws.
• Serve as a liaison between
the Commission and the governing body and planning commission of the local
government which you represent.
• Attend and participate in
regular meeting of the Commission. All duly appointed representatives have and
should exercise a vote in matters before the Commission.
• Represent the ideas and
viewpoints of your community and provide such input in matters before the
Commission.
• Prepare for meetings of the
Commission by reading relevant materials, making visits to project sites,
keeping informed of conditions and activities in your community, and preparing
thoughts and input for the meeting.
• Serve in between meetings by
participating in committees, representing the interests of the Commission in
dealings with other organizations and the public, and generally promoting the
mission of the Commission.
• Where possible, contribute
individual skills, abilities, and resources to serve the mission of the
Commission.
