MCRPC RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION DECLARING OCTOBER 2002 AS
PLANNING GREAT COMMUNITIES MONTH
IN MERCER COUNTY

WHEREAS, in recent years the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania designated the month of October as "Planning Great Communities Month" in Pennsylvania, honoring more than 300 years of community planning beginning with William Penn and including scores of elected officials, professionals, and citizens working to improve quality of life in communities throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the year 2002 is the 50th Anniversary of the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission which has brought together the municipalities of Mercer County to plan cooperatively for 50 years of community improvements including community and economic development projects, transportation projects, zoning and subdivision regulations, solid waste management and recycling, and many other efforts aimed at improving the county’s built and natural environment; and

WHEREAS, the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission acknowledges the value of planning for the future to enhance the health, safety, and welfare of the county’s communities;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission that October 2002 shall be designated Planning Great Communities Month in Mercer County; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission expresses its sincere gratitude for 50 years of elected officials, citizen planners, and professional planners who have worked diligently for the improvement of Mercer County and its communities.
